Weekly Update from Fr. van Dooren 7.31.26
Dear brothers and sisters of our Little Church family,
We celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration this Sunday, August 2 (anticipated from its fixed date of August 6). It is our feast of title and one of the joys of summer! Fr. Patrick will celebrate the mass, and I will preach. It is a deep delight every year to connect this great miracle story to our lives and parish.
In addition to beautiful hymns and liturgy, we always enjoy a special reception following the 11:00am mass. The church will provide the majority of the main course, but donations of homemade or store bought salads and desserts for the reception after the 11 am mass are greatly appreciated. Volunteers to help clean up are also needed. Please email Lee Alderson (leealderson04@gmail.com) if you are able to volunteer, contribute, or have any suggestions!
I will be leaving for a visit to family and friends in Virginia and Washington, DC this coming Tuesday, returning the next Tuesday, August 11th. I am honored to guest preach at St. Paul’s K Street, Washington, DC, on August 9th. Fr. Alistair So-Schoos will be our celebrant and preacher here at the Little Church on August 9th. Fr. Alistair is a dear friend of mine and of this parish. Welcome back, Fr. Alistair!
Do you love to sing? Do you miss singing with a choir? Are you looking to improve your voice and/or your sight reading skills? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then think about joining the summer choir here at Transfiguration Church! We sing most Sundays through mid-September at the 11am service. We rehearse prior to that in the church from 9:30 to 11:00am. For some special feast day services, we have a Saturday morning rehearsal. Join us when you can! The Holy Rosary will be prayed in the Family chapel at 9:30am this Sunday. We will pray the Luminous mysteries which include the story of the Transfiguration.
We continue to live-stream each Sunday’s mass at 11:00am, and a link is sent out each Sunday morning at 8:00am. We live-stream on Facebook and YouTube. Click here to email the parish office if you would like to pray the morning and evening offices with us by Zoom.
