Weekly Update from Fr. van Dooren 5.14.26

Dear members and friends of our parish family,

Blessings to you a day early on this Feast of the Ascension!  Today, we offer a said mass at 12:10pm in the Family Chapel and a Solemn Mass at 6:30pm with Fr. Stephen Morris as our guest preacher.  Welcome Fr. Stephen!

The Feast of the Ascension marks the close of the post-Resurrection appearances to his disciples and the exaltation of Christ to his heavenly life after his final instructions to his disciples about the Kingdom of God and the promise of the Holy Spirit.  How dear his last words: “I am with you always, to the close of the age.”

For those who cannot attend an Ascension Mass today, please find a moment to pray this beautiful collect for this special day:

“Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.”

And on Sunday, we celebrate the Seventh Sunday of Easter. We're so happy to welcome home our rector emeritus Bishop Andrew St. John for both masses.

Our monthly Spanish mass is offered this Sunday at 5:00pm in the Family Chapel.  All are welcomed, including those of us whose Spanish isn’t perfect…smile.
