A Christmas Update from Fr. van Dooren 12.24.25
Very dear members and friends of our parish family,
Blessings to you this Christmas Eve! Please click here to view my Christmas Greeting featuring our beautiful crèche, and click here or scroll down below to view the Christmas and Epiphany service schedule.
Our beloved Parish administrator, Grace, will be taking a well deserved post Christmas vacation, so this update will cover the twelve days of Christmas and the feast of the Epiphany.
After the beautiful four week Advent preparation, our hearts now turn to the twelve days of Christmas when, through the “mass mystery” of these holy days, Christ is born in our hearts in ways that are mystical, real, and deeply felt. Wherever you might be, please try to attend the Christmas services. The styles and customs of every church differ, but the promise of Christ’s presence is the same!
When viewing the Christmas and Epiphany schedule, please note the smaller masses in addition to the large and famous ones, such as the Feast of the Holy Name on New Years Day.
As part of our Christmas celebrations, we invite you to join us on Sunday, January 4th at 3 pm for our fully staged and costumed performance "Amahl and the Night Visitors". Gian Carlo Menotti’s beloved opera was commissioned and first performed by the NBC Opera Theatre and broadcast live on Christmas Eve 1951. This year's concert features Chen Philips as The Mother, Sebastian Tapia as Amahl, Carlos Tapia as Kaspar, Bugs Kelley as Melchoir, Stacey Robinson as Balthazar, Asher Yin as The Page; Richard Arthur Olson, Director; Betty Howe, Stage Manager; and Claudia Dumschat. Music Director. Suggested ticket price is $10, but all are welcome to join us! Get your tickets in advance here.
The Holy Rosary will be prayed in the Family chapel at 9:30am these next two Sundays. We will pray the Joyful mysteries which include the story of the Nativity.
We continue to live-stream each Sunday’s mass at 11:00am, and a link is sent out each Sunday morning at 8:00am. We live-stream on Facebook and YouTube. While Grace is away, please contact the parish office by phone (212-684-6770) if you would like to join us f you would like to pray the morning and evening offices with us by Zoom.
Thank you for your continued faith, support, and love for the parish.

With loving wishes,
Fr. van Dooren
