Stewardship 2017: Sing to the Lord a New Song!
Dear Parishioners and Friends of the Church of the Transfiguration,
"Sing to the Lord a new song / For He has done marvellous things" proclaims Psalm 98. As Christians, praising and thanking God is at the heart of our faith. We praise God for His goodness, His wisdom, His power. And we give thanks to God for the many blessings He bestows on us, both as individuals and as a community.
In a parish like ours with a treasured music program, we may very well express our praise and thanks to God by singing a song "with the harp and voice of song / with trumpets and the sound of the horn," as Psalm 98 exhorts us. But we can also praise and thank God in other ways. One way is by giving our time and our talent to support the mission and outreach of the church. Another way we praise and thank God is by sharing our financial resources. These gifts build up Transfiguration and help us to continue our inspiring history of work with those in need, maintain and grow our much - beloved music program and offer a vibrant liturgy and a challenging and inspiring program of Christian education.
The Vestry invites each of you to help Transfiguration continue in its mission and ministry. Please join us in making a pledge. The act of commitment in pledging is far more important than the amount pledged. It says to everyone that this is a vital part of your life. We will have an ingathering of pledge cards on November 13, and encourage you to participate in this important aspect of church membership.
We know that each of you shares our love for this church, and our desire to see it prosper and grow. As you consider your pledge, please reflect on what the church --- the liturgy, the music and the community we love and find comfort in week by week - has meant to you and to so many over the past 168 years. As we look forward to calling our eighth rector, we hope you will join with us in singing a new song to God here at the Church of the Transfiguration.
